Frequently Asked Questions

What is a custom airbrush spray tan?

A custom airbrush spray tan is a hand-applied sunless tan tailored to your skin tone, undertone, desired depth, and event timing. Unlike a booth tan, your artist controls the placement, contour, and finish for a more natural, seamless glow.

How do I choose between a classic and rapid tan?

A classic tan develops gradually and is usually rinsed after 8–12 hours.

A rapid tan allows you to rinse sooner, typically within 1–5 hours depending on your desired depth. Rapid does not mean the tan is instantly darker — it simply means you can shower sooner while the tan continues to develop after rinsing.

How long does a spray tan last?

Most spray tans last 5–10 days, depending on your skin type, prep, aftercare, lifestyle, and how often you moisturize. Proper prep and daily hydration will help your tan fade more evenly.

Will I look orange?

No. At Solhaus, every tan is customized to your skin tone and desired result. Our goal is a natural, luxury glow — never orange, muddy, or overdone.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

For best results, exfoliate and shave/wax at least 24 hours before your appointment. Arrive with clean, dry skin and avoid lotion, oils, deodorant,

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose, dark clothing and open-toed shoes after your appointment. Avoid tight leggings, bras, socks, sneakers, or anything that may rub against the skin before your first rinse.

Can I get a spray tan before an event?

Yes. For weddings, vacations, photoshoots, or special events, we usually recommend booking your tan 1–2 days before the event so it has time to fully develop and settle beautifully on the skin.

Can I spray tan for my wedding?

Yes. Bridal tans are one of our specialties. We recommend doing a trial tan before your wedding so we can perfect your ideal color, then booking your final bridal tan 1–2 days before the big day.

When can I shower after my spray tan?

Your rinse time depends on the solution used and the depth you want. Your artist will tell you exactly when to rinse before you leave. Your first rinse should be with lukewarm water only — no soap, shaving, exfoliating, or heavy scrubbing.

Will the tan keep developing after I rinse?

Yes. Especially with rapid tans, your skin may look lighter immediately after the first rinse. The color will continue developing over the next several hours and usually reaches its full result within 24 hours.

Can I work out after my spray tan?

Avoid sweating, workouts, saunas, swimming, and tight clothing until after your first rinse. For the longest-lasting result, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before intense sweating.

Can I swim with a spray tan?

You can, but chlorine, salt water, and extended soaking may shorten the life of your tan. Moisturizing before and after swimming can help protect the color and fade.

How do I make my tan last longer?

Moisturize daily, avoid exfoliating, pat your skin dry after showering, and avoid long hot showers, saunas, and oil-heavy products. Hydrated skin holds a tan much longer.

What products should I avoid after my tan?

Avoid oils, retinol/body acids, exfoliating scrubs, acne body washes, bar soaps, and harsh shaving creams. These can break down the tan faster or cause uneven fading.

Can I shave after my spray tan?

Yes, but wait until after your first rinse and use a fresh razor with gentle pressure. Shaving naturally exfoliates the skin, so the less aggressively you shave, the longer your tan will last.

Should I get my nails done before or after my spray tan?

We recommend getting nails done before your spray tan. If you need a manicure or pedicure after your tan, avoid soaking, scrubs, oils, and exfoliating treatments.

Is spray tanning safe?

Spray tanning is a sunless alternative to UV tanning. The solution is applied externally to the skin and gives you a bronzed look without sun exposure or tanning beds.

Will I stain my clothes or sheets?

During development, some bronzer transfer can happen, especially before your first rinse. This is why we recommend loose, dark clothing. Most transfer washes out, but we suggest avoiding light fabrics until after your first rinse.

Can I get a spray tan while pregant?

Many clients choose to spray tan while pregnant, but we always recommend checking with your doctor first. We can also make your appointment as comfortable as possible with proper ventilation and positioning.

Can I spray tan if I have sensitive skin?

Yes, but please let us know about any sensitivities, allergies, skin conditions, or recent treatments before your appointment. A patch test may be recommended for highly sensitive skin.

Can I get a spray tan if I have a sunburn?

No. We do not recommend spray tanning over sunburned, peeling, or irritated skin. The tan will likely apply unevenly and may fade patchy as the skin heals.

Can I spray tan over an old tan?

For best results, your previous tan should be fully removed before your next appointment. Spraying over old tan can cause uneven color, buildup, or patchy fading.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes. Solhaus offers exclusive membership options for clients who want to maintain their glow consistently. Memberships are ideal for regular tanners, event-heavy schedules, and clients who prefer a polished year-round glow.

Do you take walk-ins?
